“At the heart of this agreement is our shared determination to combat the proliferation of illicit sales of counterfeit and substandard PNP uniforms, insignia and equipment,” PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. said in a statement.
According to Acorda, the pact with Lazada would ensure that no online seller would be able to use the online platform to sell PNP uniforms and other items used exclusively by police officers.
"The signing of this MOU is a significant step towards eradicating these illegal activities. This reaffirms our commitment to ensuring the proper use of these items. Lazada, as one of the leading e-commerce platforms in Southeast Asia, plays a crucial role in providing an online marketplace for third-party sellers. Their support and dedication to combating the unauthorized sale of PNP items is commendable," he added.
