How did this machine know the blitz was coming before the players did?
Amazon Prime Video is lifting the curtain on what NFL teams will do next on “Thursday Night Football.”
The streaming giant is expanding the number of AI-powered on-screen guide features it will offer during “TNF.” While Amazon has already debuted “defensive alerts” that track the movements of defensive players prior to the snap and identify players likely to target the quarterback, it is rolling out new elements as the gridiron series kicks off a new season. “Pressure alerts” highlight defenders in position to disrupt an offensive play, while another analyzes where in the formation the offensive line is likely to attempt to penetrate. A third, “Coverage ID,” attempts to identify the defensive formation in real time — before the snap.
“We consistently push teams to use AI and computer vision to deliver meaningful improvements for fans, and we’re excited about the advancements and new innovations coming this season,” said Jared Stacy, president of live sports production at Prime Video, in a statement.
