Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega, a former member of The Elite, has been absent from the ring for months. Omega, who has been battling diverticulitis, has been out of action since December. His last match in AEW was against Ethan Page, now the NXT Champion in WWE.
TopStar plans AEW return with Kenny Omega
Despite being sidelined, Kenny Omega made his return to AEW a few months ago. On the May 1st edition of Dynamite, Omega returned and was confronted by Kazuchika Okada. However, Omega was attacked by Jack Perry and The Young Bucks, who delivered an EVP Trigger. After this attack, Kenny Omega had to be carried out of the arena.
Although Kenny Omega is physically active, he is still unable to compete and is scheduled for surgery. Speculation suggests he could return later this year. In the meantime, Kota Ibushi, Omega's former NJPW tag team partner, recently gave an update on his own status with the promotion.
Ibushi last appeared on AEW TV on the November 15, 2023 episode of Dynamite. Despite his absence from All Elite Wrestling, he plans to return to the promotion and wants to team up with Omega.
