Hartnett recently announced that he turned down two separate opportunities to portray Superman on the big screen.
The Trap actor mentioned this during an interview with The Guardian, but was reluctant to elaborate further. However, it was previously reported that Josh Hartnett turned down the role of Superman in Bryan Singer's 2006 reboot. In a previous interview, the actor explained his decision to let go of the iconic role. According to ComicBook.com, Hartnett said, "I just didn't want my life to be consumed by my work. And you saw what happened to some people. They were wiped out by it. I didn't want that for myself."
In a separate interview with Variety, Hartnett further explained, "I was at that period in my career where a lot of people were asking me to do those kinds of movies." Josh Hartnett also indicated that he wasn't interested in pursuing the superhero path at the time.
