Golden Globe winner Gillan Anderson (The Crown, Sex Education) has officially joined the cast of Trespasses for Channel 4's upcoming drama series. The series is based on Louise Kennedy's debut novel, which was published in 2023.

Anderson will play Gina, described as a "glorious wreck who's constantly sparring with her daughter." In addition to starring, Anderson will also serve as an executive producer. It marks the latest TV project for the acclaimed actress since Netflix's Sex Education ended its four-season run last year. The X-Files veteran will also star in Kurt Sutter's Western drama series The Abandons, opposite Lena Headey and Lucas Till.
"I fell in love with Louise's stunning book the moment I read it in galley," Anderson said in a press release. "I was immediately drawn to the tragicomic creation of Gina and couldn't resist when Louise asked me to play her. Reading Ailbhe's brilliant scripts confirmed how vividly this story could translate to the screen and with Dawn at the helm and Lola and Tom on board, I'm thrilled to be part of the Trespasses family."
The Trespasses are also led by Lola Petticrew (Bloodlands, Tuesday) and Tom Cullen (The Gold, Weekend). They have been brought in to play the roles of Cushla, whose hopes and dreams are frustrated by the drudgery of everyday life, and lawyer Michael. The four-part adaptation is being written by Ailbhe Keogan (Bad Sisters), with Dawn Shadforth directing. It is executive produced by Kennedy, Amanda Posey, Dawn Shadforth and Finola Dwyer, with Maria Mulhall producing.
