Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Wednesday (August 7) filed a second plunder complaint with the Department of Justice (DOJ) against former President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, this time over the Philippine Navy’s (PN) P16-billion Frigate Acquisition Project (FAP).
Trillanes files new looting complaint against Duterte, frigate deal debated
“The intention of the frigate acquisition project was to acquire two state-of-the-art warships, but due to the boundless greed of Duterte and Bong Go, our country was deprived of the opportunity to drastically improve our national security capabilities,” Trillanes said of the FAP awarded to Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in 2016.
“It could be that Mercedez Benz is going to the owner of a jeep,” he complained.
Trillanes accused Duterte, Go and their co-respondents in the complaint of violating Section 2 of Republic Act (RA) No. 7080, also known as the Plunder Law, as amended; and RA No. 3019, the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
