Trump appeared before a judge in Miami last Tuesday to formally accept 37 charges filed by federal authorities following an FBI raid of his Florida home last August.
The Justice Department accuses Trump, who is seeking to retake the White House next year, of violating the Espionage Act and other laws by taking classified documents with him when he left office and failing to turn them over to the National Archives.
The 77-year-old told Fox News host Bret Baier in an interview that aired Monday night that when he quickly left the White House in January 2021, his personal belongings were mixed in with government documents.
