According to CBC, Lee Antoni called 911 and said he had found his wife’s body in the basement. The murder allegedly occurred when Lee was not home. The documentary revealed that Amanda Antoni was 20 years old when she left home and met Lee. They met through a mutual friend and soon began sharing an apartment. In 2009, the couple got married. In the beginning of their relationship, Lee often went partying and Amanda felt frustrated. In addition, the couple had arguments because Lee did not have a steady job.
After Amanda Antoni’s death, police identified Lee Antoni as a person of interest. The documentary, referencing the interrogation, revealed that Lee and Amanda initially decided to travel to Saskatchewan together. However, Amanda decided at the last minute to stay home because of her migraines. Lee kept in touch with his wife until he arrived at his mother’s house, but he suspected something was wrong when he didn’t hear from her for a whole day. When he arrived at his home in Calgary, Lee found his wife’s lifeless body in the basement.
