Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez stressed the need to update the flood management master plan in Metro Manila following the massive flooding caused by Super Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon.

“There is already a master plan for flood control. We just need to follow it, update it and implement it,” Romualdez said during the distribution of emergency kits for affected families who were evacuated at the San Juan City gym last Thursday.
“We cannot prevent more severe storms and heavier rainfall due to climate change. We need to review and update our flood control master plans, fully implement them and consider relocating residents in low-lying areas, especially in places like San Juan and Marikina,” he added.
Romualdez also expressed support for the call to investigate the causes of the massive flooding and ensure that funds for flood control projects are used properly.
