President Joe Biden's administration has not offered Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro amnesty to shield him from criminal prosecution in the United States in exchange for giving up power since the South American country's July 28 election, the White House said Monday.

The Venezuelan electoral authority has declared Maduro the winner of the election with 51% of the votes. However, the voting results are not yet known.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday that the United States has offered Maduro amnesty in secret negotiations to hand over power.
White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said at a briefing Monday only that no offers have been made since the election.
