Columbia Pictures' "Venom: The Last Dance" has been approved for a theatrical release on October 23, 2024 in China.
VENOM: THE LAST DANCE – Trailer Countdown
The date is aligned with the film's release in other international territories and falls two days before its North American release.
All foreign films entering China are subject to import controls and censorship. Most revenue-sharing titles must also be handled by a state-owned film distribution company. And films can be edited to make them suitable for audiences of all ages, a legal requirement in China.
While these control systems have sometimes hampered the flow of Hollywood studio films into China, authorities are currently doing little to prevent the large-scale exploitation of top titles. “Alien: Romulus,” currently in release mode and given a day-and-date move, has already grossed some $101 million at the Chinese box office, a total that surpasses the film’s North American gross.
