France Castro, Deputy Leader of the Minority Group in the House of Representatives and Leader of the Teachers Party for the Australian Capital Territory (ACP), has expressed serious concerns about the recent hacking and corruption of the US Department of Energy's (DOE) Government Energy Management Program (GEMP) website.

“This latest cybersecurity breach is deeply troubling, especially as we approach the midterm elections, and underscores the critical need for our government agencies to immediately address vulnerabilities in their digital infrastructure,” Castro said.
The DOE took the system offline following the hack on July 27 and, in consultation with the Philippine National Computer Emergency Response Team (NCERT) and the system's developer, addressed potential vulnerabilities.
“In light of these recurring incidents, we must ask ourselves: How secure are our other national databases? The recent PhilHealth breach and now this DOE incident should be a wake-up call for all government agencies to strengthen their cyber defenses,” Castro stressed.
