Virgin River (Season 5 Clip 2) | Trailer in English | Netflix
EXCLUSIVE: Indie studio Wiip has acquired Amanda Eyre Ward’s 2022 novel The Lifeguards. Sue Tenney’s follow-up to the Netflix hit Virgin River, which she developed and executive produced/showrunnered for four seasons, will see her tackle the TV adaptation of The Lifeguard with former Virgin River writer-producer Amy Palmer Robertson for what the duo promises will be “a sexy, soapy, domestic suspense series.”
The Lifeguards combines the perspectives of three mothers in a narrative story with commentary from local email servers, secret text messages, and police reports. It is both a story about the secrets we tell to protect those we love and a gripping thriller of half-truths and betrayals, fierce love and complicated friendships, and the loss of innocence on a warm summer night.
"The mothers and teenage sons of The Lifeguards are close to my heart," said Ward. "From the moment I met the team that would bring them to the screen, I knew my characters were in good hands. I am so honored and excited to see the show that Sue Tenney, Amy Palmer Robertson and the brilliant minds at wiip will create."
