In June 2024, a court found Wade Wilson, who took his name from the popular Marvel character Deadpool, guilty of murdering two women in October 2019. Authorities reportedly arrested Wilson after he confessed to the murders to his father. Police subsequently charged him with multiple charges, including first-degree murder. He pleaded not guilty to the charges. After hearing multiple testimonies, the jury returned a guilty verdict and voted in favor of the death penalty. His sentencing hearing is set for July 23, 2024. He is currently awaiting sentencing in a Florida prison.
According to the News-Press, Wade Wilson's father testified at the trial and revealed details about the crime. The outlet cited his testimony, reporting that Wilson called his father and told him about the murders. At first, he didn't believe Wilson because he was a "good storyteller," but eventually he learned the truth. He testified that Wilson confessed to strangling one of his victims after she fell asleep. He then met his second victim on the street and asked for directions. Wilson choked her and pushed her out of the car while he was driving. Once he knew the victim was still breathing, he ran her over repeatedly.
In addition to his father, an acquaintance of Wade Wilson told the court that he knew about the murders. The acquaintance told the court that Wilson showed up at his workplace and confessed to the murders. FOX4 quoted his testimony, reporting, "He said he killed people and he rolled someone up in a rug or bedding or whatever." After hearing various testimonies and arguments, the jury deliberated for two hours and returned a guilty verdict, WBBH News reported.
