Announcing the 2024 Sundance Institute Documentary Fund Grant Recipients
5 Point Film, in partnership with Fat Tire and Mountains of Color Film Festival, has announced the recipients of the second annual Wading for Change BIPOC Filmmakers Grant.
Founded by Sofia Jaramillo and Jr Rodriguez, this grant aims to center BIPOC voices within the adventure film industry. The $20,000 grant is split between two creatives: David Yousling for Beyond the Saddles and Mallory Duncan for Night Writers. Beyond the Debut filmmaker Yousling’s Saddles follows non-binary runner Blank Bruno as he explores identity and finds community through trail running, set against the trails of Prescott, Arizona.
A former student of the 5 Point Flagship Festival, Duncan's Night Writers explores the stylistic and ideological connections between graffiti artists and street skiers through the lens of a balaclava in his second film.
