Baguio Rep. Mark Go is calling on the Rotary International (RI) Board to reconsider its decision to postpone the 2028 Rotary International Convention, which was to be held in Manila, calling the move a "missed opportunity" for the Philippines to shine.
Rotary International is encouraged to reconsider the cancellation of the 2028 Manila event
In a speech on August 31, Go called on the RI board to be transparent about the reasons for canceling the conference.
The board cited financial and managerial problems, as well as the alleged non-adherence to established practices and policies by the organizing committee, as reasons why the congress will no longer be held in Manila.
The decision was announced on June 28. The board stood by the cancellation despite objections from the Philippine organizing committee headed by retired police general Samuel Pagdilao.
