Peter Marshall, known as the original host of The Hollywood Squares, has died at the age of 98. He began his career in the military, was stationed in Italy in 1944 and was released two years later as a staff sergeant. Marshall then went to work for a radio station and eventually moved into acting, appearing in several television shows.

Peter Marshall, born Ralph Pierre LaCock, died Thursday morning at the age of 98. Marshall's publicist, Harlan Boll, confirmed his passing to the Los Angeles Times in an official statement. The cause of his death was listed as kidney failure. His family was with him at the time of his death in his Encino neighborhood in L.A.
