Queen Woo is a new period action K-drama starring Ji Chang-Wook and Jeon Jong-Seo. It is scheduled to premiere on August 29, 2024 on TVING. However, prior to the drama’s release, it was embroiled in a controversy over the characters’ costumes, which were shown in several trailers for the series shared by the streaming platform.

The controversy began when the public started criticizing the costumes worn by the character Queen Woo in the trailer. As reported by OSEN, several viewers pointed out that the cast members' costumes have a more assertive Chinese look than the traditional Korean hanbok.

As mentioned above, Ji Chang-Wook’s upcoming K-drama Queen Woo has been embroiled in a costume controversy. Since TVING released the trailer of the historical series, many viewers have criticized the characters’ costumes, believing that these costumes have more of a Chinese essence than the Korean Hanbok. Some viewers have also noted that the props, especially the hat worn by Kim Mu-Yeol’s character Eulpaso, bear similarities to those in Chinese costume dramas, according to OSEN.
