Justin Hakuta carved out a niche for himself in academia as a Fulbright scholar. He completed his graduate studies at Carnegie Mellon, where he earned a bachelor's degree in decision science and a minor in Spanish. He decided to continue his field studies with NGOs Combating Human Trafficking in the Philippines, according to the Carnegie Mellon University website. Hakuta received a Fulbright scholarship to further his goals after graduation. He went on to earn his MBA from Harvard Business School, graduating in 2011.
