Hoda Kotb is leaving Today and is stepping down as co-anchor of the NBC morning show by the end of the year. But who could step into Kotb's shoes?
Hoda Kotb is leaving today: who could take her place as co-host?
While there's no official word on whether or not her spot will be filled, there's certainly room for theories about potential candidates. As Today fans saw on the Sept. 26 episode, Kotb announced that she would be stepping down from her role to spend more time with her two young daughters.
"I just turned 60 and it was such a monumental moment for me when I turned 60 because I started thinking about that decade, what does that decade mean? What does it hold? What is it going to mean for me? And I realized it was time to turn the page at 60 and try something new," she told viewers at home. "I had my kids late in life and I thought they deserved a bigger piece of the time that I have. I feel like we only have a limited amount of time," she added.
Kotb's departure came as a shock to her colleagues, as People reported, with a source saying, "This was a complete surprise to most people on the show. Hoda has thought about it a lot, though. She's also talked about it a lot with both Savannah [Guthrie] and Jenna [Bush Hager]."
