Flynn Tearfully Apologizes for Killing Gregory Smart
The infamous case of Pamela Smart is back in the spotlight. The former high school student has taken responsibility for her crime in a new video statement. Pamela was convicted of being an accessory to the 1990 murder of Gregory Smart. She had an affair with a teenage student, William "Billy" Flynn, who later shot and killed Pamela's 24-year-old husband in New Hampshire.
According to CBS News, Pamela, then 22, conspired with Flynn and his three friends to kill Gregory Smart. During the 1991 trial, Flynn testified that Pamela threatened to break up with him if he didn't kill Gregory. Pamela, however, maintained that she had no involvement in her husband's murder, but admitted to seducing Flynn. Pamela was later sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Meanwhile, Flynn pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 28 years in prison.
Years later, Flynn married Kelly behind bars in 2006, the Daily Mail reported. While in prison, Flynn also earned his GED and electrician's assistant license. According to the outlet, William Flynn was set to reunite with his wife, who lived in Newcastle, Maine, after his release. CBS News reported that Flynn was paroled on his 41st birthday.
