The man, now 21, was not named in his interview with the British newspaper Mirror. In the interview he says:
The young man's story to The Mirror newspaper confirms all the allegations made by The Sun last summer. The newspaper initially did not name the announcer involved in the story, but Edwards' wife later identified him and said he had been admitted to hospital after "a serious mental health episode".
Edwards was suspended by the BBC last summer pending an investigation, and it has now emerged that he was arrested in November in connection with a separate investigation into having child abuse images on his phone. He was subsequently charged with three counts of making indecent images of children, resigned from the BBC in April and pleaded guilty in court this week. He is due to be sentenced in September.
