Dangers of social media exposed by mother pretending to be 11-year-old
Egyptian filmmaker Sara Shazli presents her latest documentary, “Your Daughter,” at Venice Production Bridge’s Final Cut workshop for films in post-production from Africa and the Arab world.
The director's second feature is a deeply personal story about her struggle to escape the long shadow cast by her mother, the successful producer and filmmaker Marianne Khoury, and about her preparation for motherhood.
It follows the 32-year-old filmmaker who, obsessed with the idea of cutting the umbilical cord that still connects her to her working mother, moves from her childhood home in downtown Cairo to a small house in the suburbs.
