EXCLUSIVE: Zachary Levi (Hotel Tehran) and Naya Desir-Johnson (The Equalizer) are set to star in Sarah's Oil, a new theatrical drama from Amazon MGM Studios that has wrapped production.

Inspired by Tonya Bolden’s book Searching for Sarah Rector: The Richest Black Girl in America, Sarah’s Oil tells the true story of Sarah Rector, an African-American woman born in Oklahoma Indian Territory in the early 1900s who believes there is oil beneath the barren land she’s been allotted—and whose belief proves correct. As greedy oil sharks close in, Sarah turns to her family, friends, and a few wild cats from Texas to maintain control of her oil-rich land, eventually becoming one of the country’s first African-American female millionaires—at age 11.
Cyrus Nowrasteh directed from his script co-written with Betsy Giffen Nowrasteh. Producers include John Shepherd, Cyrus Nowrasteh, Derrick Williams, Kevin Downes, Andrew Erwin and Daryl Lefever of Kingdom Story Company, Jon Erwin of The Wonder Project, and Levi for Wyldwood Productions. Russell Wilson and Ciara of Why Not You Productions serve as executive producers alongside Sherry Kang of Wyldwood, Tony Young and Katelyn Botsch of Kingdom Story Company, and Robert Scott Fort. The film is set to hit theaters on December 25, 2025.
